Gobo Privacy Policy

Gobo is a self-timer camera app. Your photos and photo processing stay on your device unless you choose to export, share, or back them up.

Data Gobo uses

Gobo uses the camera to show a preview and take photos. It uses device motion to display the camera level. Gobo stores your photos, shoot information, photo ratings and export status, app preferences, and capture diagnostics in the app's local storage. Capture diagnostics describe timing and errors; Gobo does not automatically send them to the developer.

Gobo has no account system, advertising, tracking, or developer-operated photo server. The app does not upload your photos or other app data to the developer, sell your data, or track you across other apps or websites. Gobo does not request your contacts or access to read your system photo library.

Gobo uses the microphone only during a screen recording you start yourself under Settings › Creators › Start recording. From that tap until you stop it or leave Gobo, the recording captures Gobo's screen and the sound around the phone, then saves it to your system photo library. The recording is made and kept on your device; Gobo does not send it to the developer.

Usage statistics and crash reports

To learn which features are used and to find crashes, Gobo sends anonymous usage events and crash reports to PostHog, an analytics service, on servers in the European Union. An event names what happened (for example: a shoot started, a photo was exported, the camera was interrupted or stopped working, a stand-in figure was placed) with the settings involved, such as the interval, the number of photos, the zoom, and whether the flash was on, and the phone's condition at the time: its thermal state, battery percentage, Low Power Mode, and whether it supports augmented reality. Crash reports contain the technical state of the app at the moment it crashed. When the camera stops working, the event lists the camera's last few technical states before it (for example: started, interrupted because the app went to the background, restarted without a picture). Events about Gobo Pro say whether this install has Gobo Pro and how a purchase ended (completed, cancelled, failed, pending), and whether a restore found Gobo Pro; they never contain a price, a receipt, or your Apple Account. Each event also carries the app version, the iPhone model, the iOS version, the screen size, the language and time zone set on the phone, whether it is on Wi-Fi or cellular, and a random identifier that Gobo generates on the phone. That identifier is not your name, Apple ID, or advertising identifier, and it is not linked to you. PostHog receives your IP address with each request, as any server does, and derives an approximate country from it.

Gobo also keeps a small diagnostics log on your device: a record of the camera starting, stopping, and recovering, with technical states only. It is never sent automatically. If you tap Send diagnostics in Settings, the share sheet opens with the log attached, together with the app version, iPhone model, and iOS version, and it goes only where you choose to send it, for example an email to the developer.

Never sent: your photos, their locations, file names, or anything you type. Events already sent are kept for a limited time by PostHog under its own policies and are not used for advertising.

If you turn on "Embed location data" in Settings, Gobo asks for location access and writes the phone's location into each new photo's file, the same way the built-in Camera app does. The location is stored only inside the photo, on your device. It travels with a photo you export or share. Turn the setting off to stop tagging new photos; photos already tagged keep their location until you delete them.

Permissions and your choices

Camera permission is needed to take photos. Location permission is requested only when you turn on "Embed location data". Microphone access is requested only when you start a screen recording. Permission to add to Photos is requested when you save a photo or a screen recording to your system library. You can change permissions in iOS Settings. Photos already stored in Gobo remain accessible when camera permission is off.

Exporting, sharing, and backups

Photos are added to your system photo library only when you export them, or, if you turn on Save to Photos, as you take them. Sharing a photo sends it to the app, service, or recipient you select. Those services handle the copy under their own privacy policies.

App data may be included in device or iCloud backups according to your Apple settings. Photos you export may also sync through iCloud Photos if you enable it. Apple manages these services. Gobo does not control their retention or deletion.

Retention and deletion

Gobo keeps photos locally until you delete them. Deleted photos move to Recently Deleted, where you can restore or permanently erase them. Gobo removes photos that have been in Recently Deleted for more than seven days when the app next opens, provided the deletion succeeds.

Deleting the app removes its local app data. Deleting a photo in Gobo does not delete copies you exported or shared, or copies in backups. Manage those copies in the destination app or backup service.

Contacting the developer

You can contact the developer at gobo@ful.co. If you send an email or use the WhatsApp contact link, the developer receives the information you choose to send, including your contact details and message. This information is used to respond to you and investigate reported problems. Email and WhatsApp providers handle messages under their own policies. You can request deletion of support correspondence by emailing gobo@ful.co.

Visiting this website

Our website, getgobo.app, is hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical request information, such as your IP address, browser information, and the page requested, to deliver and protect the website. We do not add advertising trackers or analytics cookies to this website. The demo and images are hosted with the site; viewing them does not send your photos or app data to us.

Changes to this policy

If Gobo's data practices change, this policy is updated in the app and at its public address. The version in the app is always the current one.
